Hidden Bed Help!

DD1 at university. DD2 now has her room. DS1 has other room. No option for sharing as rooms all over 16 and all very precious about privacy and alone time! Also loud gamers Grin

Downstairs converted garage currently dumping room. Planning on turning it into office room and want to put a bed in there for DD1 with storage for her remaining stuff. Sofa bed not really the answer as it won't be used as a sofa very often and will take up a lot of space in what is a reasonably narrow room. Have looked at the beds that you attach to the wall but they are quite expensive.

I don't know if I have explained this well but does anyone have any ideas of any solutions? Thank you!

I've seen videos of people turning IKEA storage (kallax and similar) into beds. Would something like that work? The mattress part would still be "there" all the time and not hidden but there would be bags of storage underneath.

A friend has one of these:

It's brilliant and you don't have to clear the desk to turn it into a bed

There's a company called Wallbed King which has cheaper versions of wallbeds. The Study Bed is amazing. I saw it at the Ideal Home exhibition

Africa2go · 27/09/2021 09:57

We've looked at this too. The Wallbed King as previously mentioned seems to be the cheapest for wallbeds and they sometimes come up on FB local selling sites or Ebay. A wallbed seems the comfiest solution as it takes a proper mattress.

Also, there are footstools that convert into beds if thats an option Nabru footstool or Ikea footstool

You can get some really decent full height inflatable beds nowadays. Good for guests etc. I can't comment on if it would be good enough for a whole summer break though!

just wondering how well converted the garage was into a room, thinking in terms of insulation, mattress not going mouldy if upright against a cold wall for a length of time etc.
