Dining table and chairs

I am looking to buy a dining table and six chairs.

I’m after recommendations. I don’t have a fixed idea of what I’m after, which doesn’t help!

TIA

What sort of style?

altiara · 17/09/2021 21:17

We do need a tiny bit of information…. Either what you like, wood, concrete looking, shiny looking. Size. Colours. What does your dining room look like….

Unless you’ve just moved and have zero furniture, then it’s overwhelming, I’ve been there! In the end I went for oak furniture land Kemble table and chairs to match something the bookcase I already owned. It’s oak on top and neutral coloured painted legs and chairs are the same paint with beige seat.
I was going to go for something fancier but it was too much effort to work out!

Thank you for the responses!

I was thinking maybe a wooden table with comfy chairs. Nothing too modern. Something that will last (style wise), something classic.

The dining room we have is cream with full length windows.

Sorry to not have much idea, I do find it overwhelming and am worried about getting it wrong.

I will look at oak furniture land!

Ercol is a traditional style brand. Very good quality. Shop around (online) for best prices.

Budget?

dragontightrope · 18/09/2021 10:33

Look at Neptune.

vinoandbrie · 18/09/2021 10:52

Budget about £2k, could go £2.5k.

Cotswold company are great I have a lovely table but with benches.

Davros · 18/09/2021 11:02

That Perch and Parrow table is nice but I would counsel against benches. We moved last year and wanted something modern that would be delivered quickly so went for this. It does scratch easily and they show but I don't mind and it was relatively cheap

Agree Davros. Wouldn’t go for the bench’s

slightlyworriedthissunday · 18/09/2021 15:13

Bench!*

We have a beautiful ceramic Italian table that extends. Coupled with cheap IKEA chairs.

Ceramic is virtually indestructible. Oven hot dishes straight on it, doesn't scratch or stain, crayon and felt pen wipe off.

Look at Calligaris - there are countless options, sizes and colours.

Also worth looking at made.com. All the stuff I've had from there has been really good quality.

RosesAndHellebores · 18/09/2021 17:38

I'd be minded to buy a reasonable quality new table and have a look at 2nd hand chairs and have them re-upholstered/French polished.

MoonGeek · 18/09/2021 17:48

I am very happy with mine from IKEA, it's called Mockleby. I didn't want to spend too much because I have two destructive boys and it suits us perfectly. Chairs also from IKEA.

You could have someone local to you make something bespoke for the space? Or look at second hand/antique options where you seem to get better value.
