Moving a fridge freezer without defrosting?

Hi all,

So we are planning on moving our fridge freezer to a new house tomorrow. This house is a 3 minute drive from our current house and it would be carried out and transported upright.

My question is... is it really necessary to defrost and leave it turned off for hours just to travel for 3 minutes?

Thanks

It is necessary to leave it in the new position for 24 hours before switching it on. So I would personally defrost it first

Providing it is kept totally upright at all times will be fine, no different from us moving our freezer from one room in the house to another last week, all was ok.

It is fine. A neighbour’s freezer went off ( luckily she noticed straight away) and she rang the local store and they told her to shut it and leave it.They delivered a frozen one and she swapped the food over and didn’t lose anything.

Our removal firm told us to leave the food in it and it would be fine to move it 3 miles to our new house (and it was).
