What colour/textures/patterns go with our sofas?

We’re moving house soon and currently our lounge is white and silver/grey. I’m bored it, I used to live the crisp white look but now I’ve got a toddler DD and baby on the way I want a bit of colour I’m the house rather than feeling like I’m in a black and white movie.

Except, last year we brought a rather expensive sofa set, in silver crushed velvet. I can’t be tagged with having it covered in another material, and I also think DP is oils put me under our new patio if I suggested selling and getting something else.. but I can’t decide or figure out for the life of me what on earth I can pair them with!

I’m thinking maybe a navy/petrol blue? But everything seems to be ‘velour’ at the moment and I just don’t know if it will look right with crushed velvet? I really want to make this house cost and nice but I’m struggling. Help Sad

So many spelling mistakes.. it’s also as if it’s 3:30am and this is what’s keeping me awake at night Grin

@MyMabel I would ( unless you have a big budget or do not wish to be under patio Grin ) keep the sofas . Emulsion paint is relatively inexpensive so you could do e.g. navy blue walls and some throws and cushions or rug to put the colour into the room. I would get plainer fabrics , as I agree with you velour with crushed velvet may be a bit of a texture overload. If new house has room for a little chair you could have that in a different colour.

If you are not sure I would start with a colour you like & some paint & some inexpensive cushions , rugs and throws and see how it goes. Also if you choose another colour maybe a lampshade in a 3rd different colour and some paintings / pictures to liven things up - not sure if I have been helpful there but I hope it goes well

So if you scroll down to the picture titled "navy & silver opulence" this is not entirely what I am thinking of but shows how you can have colour with silver coloured sofas - I think it is still a bit monochrome - but shows how a bit of paint etc can make a difference. www.aspectwallart.com/blog/grey-and-navy-living-room-ideas/

Thanks both! I definitely think I’ll have to go for the more plain fabrics and probably avoid patterns too. I think painting a feature wall and adding coloured soft furnishings should do the trick!

You could make it very cosy at Christmas with red thows. A Scandi look if that appeals.
Grey/silver goes with red or yellow or deep blues.
