Loop or twist carpet?

Trying to decide which to go for... prefer the look of loop but have heard twist is easier in terms of maintenance and longevity? Has anyone got both, and if so how do they compare? Any brand recommendations? Thanks!

Same position love loop but have cats so have to go for twist. Previous house had amazing quality loop carpets but their cats had destroyed a few sections and were not repairable. We have inherited some twist carpets in current house that the carpet fitters said dates the time the house was built in the early 70s. We are going for wool twist in main downstairs rooms and kids have chosen artificial/polyester for their rooms as fluffier. Went to a great independent carpet shop with great advice and reasonable quote

Yeah loop piles will be ruined by pet claws if you have them.
