Balthazaria · 11/09/2021 22:56

Please help me choose.

Not grey.

Not mustard - we have a mustard coloured sofa in another room.

The choices are:

A) dark blue
B) dark bottle green
C) slate/mink (dark grey/brown colour)
D) other! Open to suggestions

The walls are in F&B ammonite

Thank you!

Sofas are expensive, paint is comparatively cheap. Choose the sofa colour you love and decorate accordingly.

(but I would go neutral as cushions and paint can be changed endlessly and again are cheap, so mink)

I would always go neutral on sofas. No bold colours that you might get bored with or look very dated. I always end up with brown/tan leather which goes with everything.

I'd say a mink colour too. You can change cushions and throws etc.pp
Mine are a mink colour fabric with v pale greige walls, cushions are a mixture of shapes and textures in pastel colours but equally stronger/darker colours would work too

You could consider going neutral on the sofa but adding in a cheaper statement chair off to the side in a colour of your choice, with scatter cushions to match the chair on the sofa. Not sure if it would match your style but I really like this chair for only £80 in B&Q (£100 with footstall), so could be more readily swapped out when you fancy a change down the line. Comes in different colours including the blue and green you were after...got my eye on the blue myself...

I would never go for a light colour, but I have young kids.

How about purple? I'd go for that or dark blue.

Guineapigbridge · 13/09/2021 01:32

Brown or tan leather in a classic style. Goes with anything, works well with kids, will last you fifteen to twenty years if you treat it well.
Dark colours show white smudge very clearly. With leather you just wipe off white smudge.

White or very light ivory would be gorgeous, and then you can bring in your favourite accent colours with art, pillows, etc.
