Can I put vinyl/lino over these?

What is best? Have large horrid looking floor tiles in our kitchen, tempted to just get carpet fitters in to have lino put over them but don't want to look stupid by asking if that's not something that you can do.
Rented house. Just need a cheap fix as looking to buy in the next 2-3 years.

I put vinyl tiles over porcelain floor tiles in my bathroom, It’s much nicer and softer underfoot too.

I tried to put (cheap) Lino over floor tiles.

It didn’t go well - the grout means they’re not flat enough, but they weren’t laid that evenly to start with (not apparent until trying to glue Lino down). I couldn’t get the adhesive to stick properly, it looked crap so I took it up and spent ages cleaning off the old adhesive. Total waste of time and money (was a very small porch, so wasn’t expensive, fortunately!).

Could you try a washable rug?

Has anybody had a professional do this?
