Kitchen unit colours - pale, dark or a mix of both?

Hoping for your opinions ladies. My partner is doing up a property to sell in the SWest (target market = family). The kitchen-diner is in a large-ish north-facing extension with bifold doors. He is choosing between 1. bold dark units (possibly navy) see 1st image

  1. a paler more neutral colour to maximise on light (probably not grey as that is maybe on the way 'out' according to estate agents and kitchen sales-people!) so maybe 'pebble' as per 2nd pic
OR
  1. mixing the two and having dark at the bottom and pale at the top (I think that might be 'in'!) as per 3rd & 4th pics - maybe slate and pebble which is a biscuity colour.
Probably a white flecked worktop. Thanks all!

If it is north-facing keep it light and neutral. You want as much light as possible.

I’d go for the more neutral, lighter colour. It makes everything seems more spacious.

Light and neutral

Also wondering what people think re grey? Is the 'pebble' colour better? I can imagine people probably are sick of grey!

I prefer the pebble colour, it's neutral for everyone.

Pebble over grey!

thanks everyone, we have gone for pebble as per pic 2, with the dark handles to contrast.
