Balcony privacy

Any thoughts or ideas on what to put here to gain some privacy from the office on the other side of the tracks?

It's DBs flat who has just moved (he has schizoprhrenia so am helping) - bamboo screens are not allowed and he said about pinning up some material. I saw some side awnings but they drill into the wall- a removable clip on one would be better but do they exist?

Are there railings or is it a wall. You can buy balcony privacy awnings that tie onto railings from Amazon. You can also get fabric dividers on wheels, a bit like hospital screens but much sturdier if he would be ok with that.

Plants in pots you can hang over the railing? Some kind of screen cover?

Does the lease not allow bamboo screens specifically, or is it any type of screen?

I have a friend who lives in a similar property, who can’t have any type of screening - she’s bought some big mature potted plants for a bit of privacy.

Thanks for suggestions, checking these all out.

The awnings that tie on railings look an option. There was a notice in the handbook to say bamboo screens aren't allowed- fire maybe?

I'm not optimistic about DBs ability to keep any plants alive (runs in family) but he did mention wanting to grow herbs.

Maybe some trailing ivy type plant in a pot hanging over the railing, that's hard to kill.

Tall fake tree? I bought a ficus tree off a site some recommended on here. I love it and it won’t die or attract flies.

Tall bamboo in a rectangular trough? Quite hardy, and a little greenery is good for well-being
