Please tell me which paint you used!!

We painted our wooden stairs with dulux eggshell about 4 years ago and it started to chip and flake quite soon after and now looks awful. Needed repainting long ago!

Any recommendations for paint or how to prep properly are welcome please!

Just doing mine

Using dulux satinwood. Sand, wash down with sugar soap, paint. Repeat. I use fine grade sandpaper. Let it dry fully before painting and I used an undercoat for first coat, then x 2 satinwood. Vacuum up the dust from sanding before painting.

Spindles and fiddly areas are a pain, as is lack of natural light to see the detail. Choose time of day carefully for best light and open doors to let in light if really dull

I'm also wallpapering which has had comments from all the males in the house. They don't usually notice these things.

We used this and it was hard as nails

You need an oil-based eggshell like the one Little Greene does - water-based always chips in my experience

We used Farrow and Ball. No chips and it's been there ten years! Use the undercoat too and two coats of paint

Brilliant, thanks for those recommendations!
Looking at the above post about prep. I just tend to sand then sugar soap before the first layer but I'll do it in between as well. Fingers crossed it lasts this time 🤞🏻
