Cracked/Peeling Laminate Kitchen Cupboards

Hello! I have a kitchen that needs replacing but it's not top of the house priority list! The kitchen cupboards appear to be laminate wrapped however I don't know what is lurking underneath. A couple of them have cracks in the laminate, missing laminate or water damage. I was hoping to somehow cover over them to make a base that I can then put some stencils over. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to go about this? I have Googled it and apparently chalk paint would be a good base layer. Any experience of how to glue or cover the cracks first though before getting to this stage? I don't want to strip the laminate off in case what's under there is even worse than the situation is now! I have included photos of the damage. Thank you.

Oh gosh, I would just see how much it would be to replace the doors sorry. It might be far less than you think, and could make the kitchen last another 10 years if you look after them well. DIY kitchens sell the doors seperately I think, and have almost every measurement and type of door out there.
I would be scared that anything I’d do to the cupboard doors will make them look worse not better, but my DIY skills are not great.

You can't glue that down - it needs stripping off.

Agree with PP that buying doors to replace may be the best bet.

We had peeling laminate (not as bad as yours) and just got new doors and handles. Everyone thought we had a new kitchen.

If you really want a DIY job, I'd strip them completely, rather than trying to patch what you have!
