Ideas to work with wood

I went a bit wood mad a few years ago and I've ended up with wooden floor (engineered oak) with wood internal doors/light oak furniture/fire surround and although I'm sick of the sight of it, it's good quality stuff and I don't really want to start afresh.

Happy to buy new lighting/rugs/sofa and redecorate though. I don't have much of an eye for design to be honest and I don't know where to begin!

Paint the fire surround? Wood floors and doors-everything works with it. Wood furniture can always be painted if you’re sick of it. Frenchic paint is recommended by colleagues. I like traditional eggshell.

Think I'm going to get the internal doors replaced with white ones, that will get rid of a significant amount of wood!

Could you have them painted?
