Is this plastering job acceptable?

We have just had several rooms in our house skimmed. My husband has just applied the first undercoat/ primer (a water based dulux for walls) and we have noticed the plaster looks ripply. Should it improve once painted or should we expect more from our plasterer? Needs to be sorted as we have a painter and decorator booked in less than two weeks! See photo.

What does it feel like if you run your hand over it?

Mostly smooth, but it feels a little bit bumpy in the places where the ripples are.

Looks like tiger stripes! I had this nightmare when decorating before Christmas - showed up even after a few coats of paint, it drove us nuts and we had to have it reskimmed in the end. Get the plasterer back to see if they can sand/filler it out - before it’s painted.

skim is only a thin layer so if the underneath is very bumpy it won't be totally flat.
It doesn't look great though and if it was a reskim over plasterboard it should be better than that.

I had a bad feeling this was the case. We’ve got carpets coming soon. It’s going to put a real spanner in the works ☹️
Hubby has messaged back the plasterer. I hope we don’t have the same problem with the hallway 😭 it’s huge!

No, it doesn't look right and paint won't cover it.

I know it’s painful when you have everything arranged to schedule but trust me, it’s really worth sorting out before you paint and getting it done properly (and it’s not an unreasonable ask!).

Yes I completely agree it needs sorting before we continue our work. It’s just going to be pressure for us to sort out. 😭 for various reasons
