We are currently getting work done on our downstairs ( extension , gutting and reconfiguring the entire floor). We already bought our kitchen from DIY Kitchens ( shaker - Linewood Painted). We went with dove grey for the wall units and carbon for the island . A white/grey marble countertop and nickel for the cabinet handles and sink faucet ( going with a Belfast sink ). My husband and I were both in total agreement with this design/colour scheme .
Even though we paid for the kitchen it’s not being delivered until September at the earliest and we can make any changes we want.
Lately I’ve been feeling a blah about the colour scheme . It feels too safe . We went safe on purpose because I have no eye for design and I have two young kids and I just wanted easy right now. However I follow DIY kitchens on Instagram and every time they post someone’s kitchen with a colourful island I got kitchen envy . The worst part ( or maybe best part) is I mentioned it to my husband and he was happy to let me decide . The pressure 😩!
I fell in love with a teal island which DIY can bespoke paint for me. I went to farrow & ball and found the exact colour I like . The colour is Vardo. Ultra Marine Blue is my second pick . I have attached samples so you can see .
The problem with the teal is it doesn’t go with the nickel cabinet handles or the kitchen faucet . Copper looks so much nicer with teal ….except it doesn’t go as well with dove grey . Now I’m conflicted. I very much love the dove grey cabinets and don’t want to change that . I don’t like nickel with teal and I don’t like copper with dove grey 🤦♀️ And now I’m wondering if teal is the best choice for the island and maybe it doesn’t go with dove grey at all .
The other option is the blue and I think it goes nice with the nickel and I can’t see there being issues there . It’s not my top pick for island colour but I think it goes with our other choices .
HELP !!
