Big window alternative to blinds

Window dressings: I have a window in the living room that is 320cm wide that needs to have 'something' in addition to curtains to shade it from the morning sun.
It currently has hideous vertical blinds that were there when we moved in but it's time to tackle it! I want to be able to use the window sill to put pictures etc on (and the cat likes sitting on it) so don't really want floor length anything. Apparently It's too wide for a blind.
Hit me with your idea please!

Several roller blinds.
Possibly roller blinds which roll up not down, if privacy is an issue.

Try English Blinds - we got a blackout roller blind from them that's 270cm which is recessed and then we have two Roman blinds over the recess to stop the 5am sun in our bedroom

I'm here too as I came on to ask a similar question. All the windows in our house are v wide. I'm not fond of blinds anyway, but not sure what else to do. Currently got 'short' curtains which were here when we moved in 5 years ago and been so stuck what to put in instead.

@didireallysaythat can you post a pic. I can't figure out how the Roman blinds would look external to the recess.

Plantation Shutters? They can be pricy though.

Cafe curtains halfway?

We are getting blinds for our massive windows. They can be 6m maximum. The company also does commercial blinds.

@MerryMarigold - I think the blinds are called BigVertico and we are have a plain fabric that blocks out some sun but not fully. Just giant roller blinds really.
We are getting them from Cambridge Blinds as they are our nearest supplier.
