I am very indecisive about design - I like simple and practical but I would also like to elevate the decor in our 1970s house a little. Currently we have uplighters in the sitting room- dining room - they give little light and are not much used. Thinking of replacing with something like this -

Any opinions - positive or negative- would be gratefully received. Should we have two - one in the sitting room part and another in the dining room part above the table or would it be better to install a different light fitting over the table? Ceiling is still horrible artex - aiming to get that skimmed at some point.
