How do I get a rug to lie flat??

I'm really pissed off that I've bought a lovely rug and it will not stay flat. I've tried the mesh stuff and some tape but I wonder if it's rug plus carpet that's an issue. Anyone got rug on top of carpet that didn't creep and if so what type? It's my third one now. Driving me mad as I love it but the rucks and wrinkles...gah!

I've got the edge of the sofa on mine.

Have you tried turning it over and giving it a good flatten? I usually put a pile of books of a chair on each corner while it's upside down.

Have you tried laying it upside down (so it's like the rug is layer out but the pattern is underneath) . We leave them over night and they're usually fine

Rug on carpet will always creep because of the way the directional pile of the carpet moves it. You just need to lift and resettle it frequently.

This was my fear that the carpet and rug somehow repel each other. But I'll try laying it wrong way up for a day to see if it works
