Re-uphostering a [loaf] sofa - how much would it cost?

I have a Loaf sofa which I love. But I am looking at changing the colour of it - it has fitted covers. Is it possible to re-cover it? And if so, what would be the approximate cost?

(I could sell it and buy another one, but not quite sure I want the hassle of that).

I would hazard a guess at £1k if you use plumbs or a local business

I had two large sofas and a chair recovered and very quickly regretted it and wished I had replaced them.
They were recovered in a designers guild velvet which I immediately regretted as I was unable to clean it. I was unaware of this when I chose the fabric. A damp cloth left a water mark on everything. Had I purchased the furniture I would have had some kind of redress but recovering I had none.

My mums had her suit done £1400 TBF like new frame and springs checked few replaced.
If you like the style I'd recover it same cost as buying new but a least you know you will like it .

I took my loose covers to a local seamstress supplied my own zoffany velvet 2 large base cushions and 2 large back cushions. She charged me £85.00.

I paid £170 ( 2 years ago) to make new covers for an old ercol sofa

Ps....I provided my own material.....which was 50 quid

I would just telephone a local upholsterers - they will give you a decent estimate - but unless the furniture is really good quality or a thing which you love - I would expect being recovered to be not much cheaper than buying new.

Also most people will take the sofa away to recover so - hassle either way

When DH & I were first together we reupholstered a sofa I had. Many many hours I will never get back - but then you don't get any hours back so - there you go

But all best wishes

Hi
We bought a sofa from Loaf 4 weeks ago and it absolutely stinks. Has anyone had experience of deodorising a sofa and how please?
thanks so much

When you say it stinks, what of? Have you spilled something on it?
