So i've repainted the kitchen and what I thought would look nice and fresh actually looks (to me) a bit cold. The three walls with cupboards are painted in an off white colour with the back wall where we have a fold out table a sort of light sage green. We have a daylight bulb in there at the moment but have tried the warmer bulbs and they dont light it up enough (it's a very decent sized kitchen and this house is very dark). Extra lighting isn't an option at the moment so i'm hoping a lightshade is a cheap and cheerful remedy to soften the light without making it too dark. Never had one in there before as the fitting is what I believe is called a "batten" type? ..and do you think I can find a shade anywhere?! If you have the same kind of fitting what style of shade do you have on it? This is actually a problem I have all over the house, it is SO dark and gloomy warm toned bulbs dont touch it but white toned ones look very cold so any ideas welcome.
