Inspire me with colour schemes for a North facing bedroom

I'm clueless and would love some inspiration (already looking on Pinterest). I'm hoping to decorate my North facing bedroom soon and would love some ideas (1920/30 house although that's not really relevant). I'm open to dark colour ideas or calmer, neutral colours. Just want to see what people have done please.

I'm after the same! We'll be decorating our bedroom in 3 weeks. It's a dark room. I'm definitely going neutral so am after a nice neutral/beige

My DDs have a north-facing room and chose a dark warm purple for the walls. It's really nice and cozy in there, with dark beddings and mostly white and grey furniture & curtains.

My spouse and I have the smaller north facing room and we've practically gone the opposite with copper as the main colour (have finished the long walls, still debating as the shorter one if we want to also use copper or use another colour).

I actually find stronger colours calmer than neutrals, if only after too many Zoom calls with very neutral backgrounds, I'm starting to associate it all with working rather than relaxing.

I went hague blue in our north facing bedroom, embraced the dark! It's very cosy.

Thank you both. I do love the Hague Blue having looked at it (although might look for a similar colour that's not F & B). Can I ask what colour paint you used for your copper room @BiBabbles

We’ve gone for a very delicate off white with a blush tone to it, which looks really lovely as the light hits it at different points in the day. Accessorised with dark grey linens and dark green and blush accessories - so a blush bedspread, dark green velvet armchair and cushions. I think staying light on the walls and going dark with accessories has given us more scope for change later. In our study downstairs, also north facing, I went very dark blue on the walls with copper lights, switches etc. It looks amazing, but wanted less of a cave like feel in my bedroom.

Thank you @OnASwankyMarleyPond - would you mind sharing a photo? (if I'm not being too nosey).

I ended up speaking to farrow and ball and I've settled on White Tie, which is a cream with yellow undertones.
Apparently you have to avoid green and grey undertones in a north facing room, and go for yellow or red undertones.

The other option is to embrace the dark, which I don't really want to do.

@everyonebutme tried to take one that’s not too outing!! We used Little Greene Rusling, which looked too peach for what I wanted, but comes out much cooler in a north facing room as you can see. It really reflects the light - the wall I’ve shown here is the one opposite the window on a very dreary rainy day.

Upstairs in our other north-facing bedroom, I’ve gone for LG Chemise for my daughter, although that is very much a light pink rather than an off white with hint of blush. I think both work very hard with the light they get.

Posted a couple of pics of my initial inspo, including the wallpaper I’ve used in the alcoves that works well with the Rusling.

In our north facing rooms we have:

Squid Ink by Paint & Paper Library
Setting Plaster by F&B (Johnstones match)
Tablecloth by Paint & Paper Library
Hague Blue by F&B

All have a yellow undertone which I think is needed in N facing to provide warmth. Vert de Terre was another contender.

Beiges like Joas White and Old white are often recommended for N facing but I just don’t like them much! Probably look fabulous with suitable accessories though.

@OnASwankyMarleyPond that is gorgeous!

@Baxdream thanks! I did it myself while I was 7 months pregnant - extreme nesting Grin

Thank you everyone for replying. I'm considering a blue, but worried about it being too dark so might just do one wall (still not sure). Looking at Dulux Sapphire Salute, Dulux Breton Blue, Dulux Denim Drift or Hague Blue. We have a grey headboard and oak wardrobes/chest of drawers which we won't be changing. I've just done the spare room opposite which is south facing in Tranquil Dawn with blush pink accessories and it looks lovely.

I can't post pictures but we have a north-facing bedroom (big windows so we do get plenty of light, but not the warmer light of the late day). The orevious owners had gone dark, with quite heavy brown furniture, so we wanted to change that. So we
replaced the brown wardrobes with built in ones of Fired Earth oyster and walnut trim
replaced the very dark green paint on the walls with Fired Earth Opal Green
Got rid of the porridge carpet and stripped, sealed and stained the floorboards in walnut
changed the white woodwork (fireplace, skirting boards, doors) to Fired Earth Oyster.

Added more and better lighting - a couple of wall lights in particular mean you don't rely on bleak overheads on gloomy winter afternoons.

The walnut floors, bedframe and a couple of other bits of furniture, also dark wood, add a bit of weight and warmth among the paler colours. The curtains are full length and a rusty sort of brown. The fireplace has grassy green tiles so those, plus pictures, blankets, cushions add colour.

Can equally see the attraction of going dark - I'm just taking a break from painting my husband's east-facing study in Myland's Primrose Hill, which is quite a strong, deep green, and we;ll be adding quite dark green patterned wallpaper. Enjoy your project!
