What colour wardrobes?

We are getting fitted wardrobes fitted into some bedrooms. There is a sort of alcove there and we had the existing cupboards removed.

I can't decide what sort of doors to have on the wardrobe.

The main doors are oak (Howdens Holdenby style I think) and we have white skirting boards and paintwork with walls painted in joas white.

DH wanted wardrobe doors to match main doors ie pattern as well but joiner has said that's not possible.

Ceiling

Options are:

Painted MDF or other wood in plain or shaker
Oak plain or shaker

I kind of think white would look fine but DH thinks it all needs to match. I think white would match paintwork and would generally blend in to the background more than an oak cupboard

If in doubt mirrored.

queenofthenorthwest · 16/05/2021 18:01

It like my mum does, two mirrored one the colour of the scheme in that room so it can be painted

ElderMillennial · 16/05/2021 18:15

Hadn't thought about mirrored. Good idea.

Don't understand the second comment though.

I'm going to paint my MDF wall of built ins the same colour as my walls.

White. Never mirrored.

DuchessOfSausage · 20/05/2021 18:24

Not mirrored. Any distortion would bug me.

DuchessOfSausage · 20/05/2021 18:24

Also mirrors need to be spotless.

Bluesheep8 · 21/05/2021 06:45

White

queenofthenorthwest · 22/05/2021 01:18

Sorry so she has two mirrored sliding doors.
Full length

The one random my dad paints in gloss usually

queenofthenorthwest · 22/05/2021 01:19

So they are panelled. The third one is panelled and gloss white. Do you want a pic? If so I will get one tomorrow

queenofthenorthwest · 22/05/2021 01:21

Mine are just mirrored because they match everything that way

queenofthenorthwest · 22/05/2021 01:22

You can get the panels from wickes

We have mirrored, I love to my surprise- I always thought I'd hate a mirrored sliding door but it looks amazing and is incredibly useful, and people simply don't put sticky finger Mark's all over it (you open and close the wardrobe at the sliding edge , you don't really have any other reason to put your hands on the mirrored surface) so I dust it with a static dusting brush each week and that's more than adequate.

@queenofthenorthwest So there are three doors? Two mirrored and one coloured?

We just have 2 x two doors

They won't be sliding doors

We are thinking about oak or white wood. I am leaving towards white

Mirrored would probably be better with a sliding door I'm thinking

My mum has three doors that all slide. One is gloss white. The other two are mirrored.

I have two panels, both sliding, both mirrored. I love them but they get marks on so easily. I think the dog licks them, every day I have little marks off which are knee height which I have to wipe off
