This is our newly finished guest room... too plain or does it need a little more too it? I don’t really want to paint or wall paper if I’m being honest!!

Too plain or just right?

I think its lovely apart from that 'dream catcher' over the bed. Bin it, bin it now xxx

If you don't want to paper/paint then I'd suggest the following:

Ditch the hanging over centre of bed, replace with large piece of art or a long picture shelf where you could have any number of pictures/objects etc.

The corners of the room look totally bare. I'd add a Freestanding mirror, bigger houseplants, a pouffe, anything....

Agree it needs a rug or some sheepskins strewn about.

Bigger chair

Lose the random lantern (or buy a nice side table and cluster a few varied types on it).

Great space and lovely colour scheme. I feel you need something a bit darker to balance it (eg dark green throw)

Amazing size guest room! I would paint the back wall the same lovely deep green as that cushion on the bed and in the duvet cover - it would make the room seem more solid and less like it is about to float away...

It's fine, but I might add a chest at the foot of the bed with a throw on it in case they need an extra layer at night, a rug to add some colour to the floor and a full length mirror. You could add a big picture over the bed, but I quite like the dream catcher. Nice idea.

The armchair is nice for reading/contemplating! What about a small table beside it with a lamp?

The bedsde tables look too small to me as do the lamps - bad for reading, and nowhere to put things!

The dream catcher must leave to catch dreams elsewhere!

Nice room - I will come when it is finished! :)

I would make use of that large wall and have one large painting on canvas rather than lots of “ bits” .

What colour is the chair? I'd use the blanket you've got covering it as an accent throw across the chair. Have you thought of two chairs with a small table, so guests can have their own space to sit. Like the idea of the boxes at the end of the bed. Seen some lovely ones online.

Nearly bought that bed myself!

I'd look for something tall on that wall behind the bed and remove the hangings (unless you're really attached to them)

Forgot to say I like the bed box idea as well. Really handy spot to keep guest linen and towels.

Absolutely splendid room.
The dream catcher needs to be above the window to let the bad dreams out.
Other than that it’s fantastic.

Where is the duvet cover from please?

NewLifeInTheSouth · 29/05/2021 05:41

I think as the bed is very pale it doesn't look great against the pale wall so I would paint the wall behind it in a deeper colour. But if you really don't want to do that then as a PP said, get a large piece of artwork in stronger colours for behind the bed.

At the very least I would move the central wall hanging into the bare space on the left and put something significant and attractive in the centre.

A piece of furniture on the left side, maybe an ottoman, and a rug at the base of the bed might look nice.

The little chair in the corner would be better if it was a bit bigger and more noticeable - or just made to look bigger and more noticeable with a lovely cushion.
