Are Loaf beds sturdy?

I've got my eye on a Loaf bed, but it's a self assembly frame and I'm worried it won't be sturdy and robust. We've currently got an IKEA Hemnes (cheap and not so cheerful) - every time DH so much as twitches a toe the whole thing judders and wakes me up.

Does anyone have a Loaf bed frame and are they well-made and solid, or should I be looking at a different bed altogether?

I have no idea what a loaf bed is Grin

I think it's more important to get a good mattress. If you have issues being woken due to movement try something like a Nectar mattress. It has worked for us as vibrations are absorbed. We buy an adequate bedframe and quality mattress.

I'm on my second Loaf bed, first one bought 13 years ago (when they were just starting out and only did about 4 styles!) and upgraded a few years ago to a king size. Both times we have paired them with the best quality (John Lewis) mattresses we could afford, so can't speak to Loaf's mattress range, but can't fault the beds themselves, they're excellent. Both ours were put together in situ by the delivery men, but have been disassembled/ reassembled by movers with no noticeable difference.

Thank you for these replies! It does sound like I need to think about the mattress more than the bed frame then. I think I've been scarred by our IKEA experience! The frame is so completely flimsy that it's definitely the problem rather than the mattress (also IKEA).

I will have a look at Nectar and John Lewis. My DBIL was also raving about their Emma mattress so perhaps I'll ask to try it next time I'm round!
