Wood floor running up the wall?

We have a fairly narrow hallway from the front door though to the lounge and kitchen. Having DC and DDogs means I feel like I spend my life wiping mud and scuffs off the wall and then trying to touch up the paint (even though its durable washable paint, there's only so much wiping it can take). As the hall is narrow its a light colour to keep the room light, so shows up every mud splatter. Is there such a thing as running your wood flooring up the wall? I'm thinking similar to a tiled bathroom where the floors and half the wall are tiled, but wood because its a hallway? I've googled and can't see any examples so perhaps its a rubbish idea. I feel this would make it so much more durable and I could give it a good scrub once a week. Thoughts?

It isn't quite finished in this pictures but we did it up our stairs, to hide a very damaged and damp wall. Works well for us and we were happy with the overall and affect.

Thanks @Bubbles1st. Is it laminate? Does it make the room dark?

Yes this is just normal laminate, as you can see it's the same as what's on the floor, it is quite dark but only because it's a tall and narrow stair case with only a window from the front door. The niceness and impression when you walk in certainly out weighs it being a bit dark.
