Retro shades of green ....and possibly purple

This is not for my house , its for a caravan I am converting into a shop to sell my eco clothing designs

I have found this amazing flooring and my logo is this shade of purple for fabric I plan on using a narrow lilac/grey/white stripe

Internally I am unsure if I should use something like a lilac white or a green or maybe a grey (I could possible get the rubber flooring in a different colour and use that on the walls/ceiling. I think the inside should be light the darker floor is because in a market/festival/fair it might get quite muddy

The outside; well the caravan is having a bike carrier on the A frame for my new bike which is the green

I can have 2 colours and was thinking a lightvretro green with a darker green stripe round the middle but I don't know how the purple logo will sit on green? But purple wasn't really a retro colour for caravans

Caravan guy says cream (I hate cream!!)

I am totally tidied up in knots over it all

No-one likes green?

I would go for green, you would be constantly washing a cream caravan!

KatyMac · 18/04/2021 21:40

@M0rT that is a very good point

Maybe darker green on the base and lighter green higher up

Purple & green is quite a difficult combination to pull off. I’d personally go for a retro yellow, as your purple logo will really stand out against that. If your heart is set on green then something like Volkswagen Beryl Green might work.

As restoring old VW vans and Beetles is so popular, a lot of the old VW paint colours are still available or can be colour matched. This might be useful for getting ideas for retro colours:

Those shades are lovely - beryl green is def a consideration

I quite like alabaster grey - maybe with my green stripe

My green is between Mango & Pampass so I think it will look OK

I'm not going to help you here because I really dislike purple!

However, I would go for a colour that doesn't compete with the purple logo, like yellow or perhaps turquoise green?

thebestnamehere · 26/04/2021 17:21

Needs to be more khaki

I think as you have it looks like a trade union, sorry.
A softer palette would work better- the beryl green is lovely.
Peridot and amethyst?
A pale lavender is nice, with khaki?

KatyMac · 26/04/2021 19:39

Grin @PandaLady it's my fav colour .....along with green

I am looking at lighter shades but im not convinced

It's a bit suffragette isn't it @LostInTime

I hate khaki Blush

Thanks it hasn't been popular irl either

I need a re-think

What about white with the green stripe?

Then just the logo in purple?

Colour is so personal - YOU have to like it. I LOVE purple and green and that green is one of my faves - I would certainly go into a caravan shop painted in those colours OP. 💚💜
Have you looked at a colour wheel? Shows complimentary and contrasting colours and what colours work or don't work. Might help clarify your ideas on specific tones.

KatyMac · 27/04/2021 11:57

It's really hard balancing personal taste and marketing ideals

My clothes are quirky maybe my caravan should be too

I'll look at a colour wheel good idea

I think the advice to just go for what you love is right op! I like the idea of breaking up the green and purple with white and allowing them to pop out as accent colours.

If it makes you feel better, I have a business logo in my fav colour which dh calls 'e coli yellow'. I just don't bother asking now if anyone likes it Grin

Lilac with a beryl stripe sounds wonderful.

ChubbyMsSunshine · 11/05/2021 22:14

I luuuuuurrrrvvveeee green and purple combos but think the shades you've chosen are way too harsh.

Softer might be nicer? Or deeper even? You've just got two very kind of brash colours there which I think aren't quite working. I'll try and find some photos.

Starlitexpress · 11/05/2021 22:18

Purple and green are the colours of the Wimbledon tennis championships, so tread carefully with that combo!

ChubbyMsSunshine · 11/05/2021 22:22

Pinterest is your friend here - these are from a couple of mins browsing.

I think you need to think about what base / neutral shades and tones you'll use to break the colour up a bit. These ones are pretty close to your colours but work better than just solid blocks of harsh colour (IMO anyway Smile)

They do look fab but I can't translate them to the exterior of the caravan in my mind

I like the purple one (but I cant afford painting!) but find the green ones not quite me

Inside is very calm its just outside - in a field of white transit vans it need to stand out

The green is the green of my bike - otherwise it might look odd stuck on the front
