How would you paint this room?

Plastering still needs to be finished obviously and tidying up around the velux, but how should I paint this room when the time comes?

Usually it seems people paint the sloping part of the roof the same as the ceiling and start the wall colour down the bottom on the vertical wall but there isn't a straight line there, it's a curve, and there's going to be quite a contrast between the wall and ceiling colours.

I could put masking tape along there and paint a straight line or should I paint the wall colour up to the top of the velux/below the steel beam as there's a straight edge there.

Thanks!

I would paint the wall colour up to the straight edge above the window.

Personally I would do the flat of the ceiling white then colour everywhere else.

I would do everything above the small vertical bit the same as the ceiling, use masking tape across the wall in line with the point at which the curve starts if tha makes sense.

If you do the angled bit room colour I think it will be overbearing and possibly too dark.

Sky blue all over including the ceiling. I did this in my spare bedroom and it looks amazing.

@Shehasadiamondinthesky all the same colour! That's an idea.

One more option to mull over

@Lonelycrab I think you're right. It probably would be too dark. And I've bought white velux blinds so they'd blend in if I brought the ceiling colour down

White on trims, ceilings, two walls with windows and wall to left of velux and your mid to light tone choice of actual colour on the wall opposite velux.

JaninaDuszejko · 11/04/2021 14:59

All walls and ceiling the same colour. Dark if you want it cozy, light if you want it bright. You could do colour blocking if you want to be trendy or make the end (vertical) walls your choice of colour then paint the ceiling and velux walls a toning shade. White roof and colourful walls is so 2019 doncha know Grin?

Sounds like you've already thought of a colour though?

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 11/04/2021 15:05

Personally I'd paint the whole thing white.

@JaninaDuszejko Grin I'm not sure my toddler will realise I'm fobbing him off with a dated painting style.

Yes, already have the wall colour chosen and painted behind the radiator before it was attached so I'm going to have to stick with it. There have been great ideas so that's a bit of a shame but it's the last room in months worth of painting so I've got no energy left to rethink colours!
