Serious lampshades

In the knowledge that lampshades can be ridiculously expensive, I've tended to try and get away with Homebase or John Lewis up to now.

But I'm now biting the bullet and looking for some really grown up high quality silk pleated lampshades. Anyone with high-end decorating knowledge have a supplier they recommend?

Pooky is good for table lamp shades, despite not being much more expensive than John Lewis. Or look at whatever the House and Garden website recommend.

Etsy?

Pumpkyumpkyumpkin · 11/04/2021 12:07

If you're super serious (like £300 ish) try Anna Hayman or Tin Designs. Lisa Lampshades will make to order, more around the £100ish mark

Thanks very much everyone for the suggestions. @Pumpkyumpkyumpkin, yes, I'm willing to push the boat out, so thanks very much for those. I'm trying to replace some very old vintage ones that were obviously top of the range pre 1950. They're finally starting to disintegrate gracefully like something out of an Egyptian tomb. One challenge is that their frames look as if they've been customised to sit correctly on their particular stands.

I can recommend Fermoie lampshades and also OKA.

There are people who will recover your lampshades for you in whatever you fancy, so you know the old shades will fit. I am in a facebook group "Lampshade Makers ~ Knowledge, Support and Inspiration" and if you have a look there you will see loads of people who will help.

Etsy, some fabulous shades on there and some fab folks who make bespoke ones.

HollowTalk · 11/04/2021 13:09

Habitat have beautiful silk lampshades.

deeplyambivalent · 11/04/2021 13:11

Oh fab, thanks everyone! Clearly I have come to the right place! @antidisestablishmentarianism that's awesome, I'll head over to FB right now.

JaninaDuszejko · 11/04/2021 15:01

Yeah, definitely find someone who will recover the old frame.

deeplyambivalent · 11/04/2021 15:21

This is one of the worst ones. Will probably need stripping, re-soldering and recovering. The stand doesn't look like much, but It's kind of a perfect neutral. I love it.

I've bought some nice lampshades from India Jane in the past.
