Any thoughts on living room decoration

I’m going round in circles and could do with some advice!

North facing living room, even darker as opposite tall fir trees. It’s 18 ft x 10 ft, with window on a short wall and door on a long wall. Relatively new build.

When we moved in it already had a dark blue wall (long wall, opposite the door). I planned to paint it all a lighter colour.

Now we’ve been here for a while I understand the logic of embracing the darkness instead of fighting it. I also now have a small white fireplace on the blue wall and it looks good, and dark blue cushions which tie it together better. Blue wall has to be re-painted as the previous owners left big holes from where pictures were hung and it also chips really easily.

So my current options are:

  1. Re-do dark blue, I’ve got samples and chosen a Dulux paint. I think feature wall on the long wall isn’t what you are supposed to do as emphasises how narrow it is. But too dark for the whole room.
  1. Re-do blue wall in a dark green - as all you can see out the window is green, whereas blue feels like a random colour. I found some blind material I like, colour that matches it is a slightly bluey green, Graham & Brown bordado. Does Graham & Brown paint chip?
  1. Do whole room bordado (it’s expensive paint...)
  1. Do whole room pale green

I will have mirror opposite the window. Sofa and carpet pale neutrals.

Thanks

Do you like the dark blue?

Personally, I like dark colours, but wouldn’t like them in a room I use in the daytime, particularly outside of the winter. I’d go for sage green.

Is it too dark for the whole room...? We have a strong blue/grey all over our dark north facing room and it feels cosy at night and fresh in the day. Not keen on a feature wall tbh.

I'd do the whole room in a dark colour as I don't like feature walls. I like the sound of the colour you've mentioned.

Good lighting should help and perhaps a mirror to bounce the light around a bit. I've got a big mother-of-Pearl mosaic as some artwork in our north facing sitting room and that also reflects the light really well.
