I’m going round in circles and could do with some advice!
North facing living room, even darker as opposite tall fir trees. It’s 18 ft x 10 ft, with window on a short wall and door on a long wall. Relatively new build.
When we moved in it already had a dark blue wall (long wall, opposite the door). I planned to paint it all a lighter colour.
Now we’ve been here for a while I understand the logic of embracing the darkness instead of fighting it. I also now have a small white fireplace on the blue wall and it looks good, and dark blue cushions which tie it together better. Blue wall has to be re-painted as the previous owners left big holes from where pictures were hung and it also chips really easily.
So my current options are:
- Re-do dark blue, I’ve got samples and chosen a Dulux paint. I think feature wall on the long wall isn’t what you are supposed to do as emphasises how narrow it is. But too dark for the whole room.
- Re-do blue wall in a dark green - as all you can see out the window is green, whereas blue feels like a random colour. I found some blind material I like, colour that matches it is a slightly bluey green, Graham & Brown bordado. Does Graham & Brown paint chip?
- Do whole room bordado (it’s expensive paint...)
- Do whole room pale green
I will have mirror opposite the window. Sofa and carpet pale neutrals.
Thanks
