Retro style fridges- recommended (or unrecommended?) brands

Smeg is the most widely known but I've also looked into Gorenje.

Both seem to have quite negative reviews - are these fridge/freezers style over substance?

Any other brands you'd recommend?

We have had our SMEG for over 13 years now, and never had a problem with it.

Swan do a retro style, wouldn't be able to recommend or not as I haven't had one but they seem more affordable than Smeg, depends how much you want to pay

Watching with interest, as I’m intending to buy a retro American style Smeg for my new kitchen.

We have a SMEG. It was stupid money, but DH has always wanted one, and we did want something that looked good because (due to the weird layout) it's almost the first thing you see when you come into the house.

We've had it nearly 2 years. I'm very happy with it - it holds absolutely loads and does feel really robust. We did have one issue with it that was swiftly resolved under warranty.

I had a gorenje one it was excellent and good value. And everything else in my house is Miele - I have zero time for shit appliance brands

I've got an amica turquoise retro looking fridge and rate it. Bought from amazon

We have 3 Swan..a fridge, fridge freezer and freezer.. All really lovely and probably the price of one smeg combined.

We used to have a Smeg - it was great, I loved it. We moved to a house with a built in fridge freezer so sold it in for 50% of what I paid for it. It was in good condition and full working order!

We've had Gorenje for four years, not have a problem with it. We have fridge / freezer and both compartments work fine tbh I don't see the difference between fridges, more so between dryers /washing machines / hoover etc.

I have a Gorenje. I can't speak for longevity since we've only had it a year, but so far so good.
