What colour carpet - grey?

Evening!

The original carpets in our house are embarrassing worn. We are looking at recarpeting the living room, hall, stairs, landing and all bedrooms. What colour would you go for? My husband has decided on grey but I’m not convinced. It’s a dark beige/camel colour at the moment.

What colour are your walls? We are in a similar position at the moment-doing up a house and current carpets are beyond gross! I was thinking grey for hall, stairs and landing just because white or cream will probably show up the dirt but it does seem a bit uninspiring! Bedrooms will be different.

White walls everywhere! Very uninspiring but it’s easy Grin

I've completely gone off the grey look.
Too much grey grey grey, for too long.
My DH likes it too but I've told him no more. We're back on the warmer spectrum.

I'd prefer a light sandy / beige carpet. Better yet a hard wood floor! or a good quality laminate (not for the stairs).

I like Berber style carpets the colour of digestive biscuits

Lots of paint colors will work with grey. So I vote grey. I put grey wool carpet down in my living room and I love it

I put navy on my stairs. Did a more neutral colour in the bedrooms. I have four children and honestly after it's been vacuumed it looks good as new. That's 5-6 years after it's been put down. You can't see any of the grub that is almost certainly there. Dust shows more easily though so needs fairly frequent vacuuming (or infrequent vacuuming but living with the dust)... I've never regretted it.

I love my carpet which is a kind of oatmeal grey. It's warm for a grey and just perfect for hiding dust so you don't have to hoover every five minutes. My place is white/blue/green and it's fairly neutral and goes with all colours. The one I have is this. It's wool but moth proof. Easy to maintain. I have it all over the house including the stairs and it's been lovely and warm over the winter.

Grey is too depressing for me, so I’ve just installed a sage green carpet throughout. It’s surprisingly neutral. I love it.

We have biscuit colour which seems quite neutral to me but a bit different to grey.

We have grey carpets and I couldn't be happier with them!

I can't post pictures for some reason! But I adore our colour

AnnaSW1 · 02/04/2021 22:59

I have laminate everywhere downstairs as it's much easier to clean then and striped stair carpet and same on my landing

Grey carpet in our room and spare
Laminate in kids with nice rugs again as it's much easier to clean

Grey from which Hue Family? Every grey carpet belongs to one,,,

Knowing to which one, helps you partner it with wall colours, curtains, etc successfully.
