Does grout paint work?

Not the pens, but the kind you paint on and it wipes off the tile but stays on the grout? I want to use it in my bathroom, so interested in how well it last if it gets wet.

Also, any recommendations for particular brands would be welcome

I've used this stuff and been very pleasantly surprised by both how good it looks and how long it lasts. And it's cheap as chips!:

DH and I bought our current home from a single guy had lived here on his own for 10 years. The place was gross and the grout was grimy and had that horrible orange mould in some parts.
I gave our bathroom grout a really good clean then let it dry before I used this and for the most part it has stayed put.
It looks so much better!

It doesn't seem to come off much when I clean the bathroom. But over time some little patches but over time I have needed to redo little patches once or twice.

It's worth mentioning it is a bit of a ball ache cleaning it off the tiles when you initially apply it. But it is worth it.
I thought our bathroom was a write off but this really refreshed it.

That looks great, thanks very much!

I use trainer whitener. Apply, leave it to dry, scrub tiles a bit with the scrubby brush when I next have a shower. It manages to cover up the hair dye splashes.

Does it survive getting wet repeatedly? I never thought of trainer whitener being very long lasting.

I regrouted floor tiles, was very easy to do, if the grout is damaged rather than just manky!

Lurkingforawhile · 23/03/2021 13:57

@saz12 I need to do this since I damaged my grout with viakal - any tips re regrouting?

Saz12 · 23/03/2021 14:35

Not really! If you need to, use a narrow chisel to get rid of any old grout that’s too high - I only had to do this for a small “line” of grout. Then just follow directions on the packet.
