What do people use to keep out sunlight or for privacy. A house were thinking of buying has huge doors that are lovely but the house is a bit overlooked and the sun pours in most of the day.

I've got two bifolds, one I have a curtain pole and light curtains and the other I have electric blinds in the recess, pleased with both, the curtains are in my lounge and make it more homely. The electric ones were from powered blinds but I have seen other that do the same and they don't go over the window frame part at all unless I put them down, so really pleased with both. My curtain pole I got from dunelm as it's large and also got made to order curtains but dunelm did do some big enough ready made, it's just the colour wasn't right.

Oh thanks. Will look at the blinds. The curtain thing would not really work I don’t think as it’s in the kitchen area.

We bought uv filter films. You just put directly on the glass - makes your windows tinted.

We have curtains

We have had blinds fitted in to the window frame.

We had this dilemma with our bifolds. Ideally I would just have left them bare, but that wasn't an option, as the room they are in is used occasionally for overnight guests to sleep in (or will be one day... sigh).

We don't have space for curtains to stack to the side, and some dull-but-complicated engineering reasons made electric roller blinds impractical.

In the end, we got Click Fit blinds from Blinds2Go. They clip to the top and bottom of each pane, and are designed to work with aluminium frames as well as uPVC, and I'm really pleased with them so far - though I will say that they are bit fiddly to get the tension right.

Thermal or blackout lining or blackout blinds. Have a look here for ideas -
