Small double vs double

Hi all,

We are redoing my sons bedroom and are looking at getting him a small double bed but when I've been looking small double bed duvet and duvet covers are next to non existent. I can't find any in that size in all the usual shops you would think to get a duvet cover from (or rather their websites).

I'd rather go for a small double over a double purely to save a little space although we may have to go for a double if we can't find any duvet covers.

To anyone who has a small double bed - what duvet cover do you use? I'm worried that a normal double could be too big and look silly.

A double duvet will be fine.

I have a king duvet on a regular double bed and it’s so much better. Hangs more nicely around the sides and more space underneath as it were.

My dc have single beds and always have double duvets

Use a double duvet...that’s what I do

When my DD is sleeping in it, she uses a single. She is 9yo, had it since she was 7yo, and finds a double duvet too cumbersome
When visitors use it, a normal double duvet. It looks fine.

Both children will soon soon have double beds, and will likely continue using their single duvets for a few more years, but start replacing their covers with double soon (they like their single covers- Harry potter, stars, rainbows etc)

I always think its nicer to have a size up for duvet compared to bed size so that there is spare. Always use a kingsize duvet on a double bed, and a super king duvet on a king bed. Double duvet will be great.

I always buy a bigger duvet than the bed size.

Size wise, small double is 4foot double is 4’6” - only 6 inches wider - not seeing a problem

I got fitted sheets from Dunelm for DS's small double bed.

We have two small double beds. We use a small double fitted sheet and double duvet covers.

I don't know how old he is but the small double sheets will come in handy if he goes to uni. Small doubles now very popular in student houses. If you have a Boundary Mill nearby they sell small double sheets and mattress protectors at bargain prices.
