Frog tape and painting

I am starting on my darker accent wall paint at the weekend. I've never painted different walls in different colours in my life 😊 I was thinking of taping up the vertical corners on Saturday ( with yellow frog tape) then doing the first coat on Saturday followed by the second coat on Sunday, then remove the tape. Am I asking for trouble? Should I be doing it differently?
Thank you

I would tape all the edges and all your corners (so essentially outlining the full wall in frogtape). Make sure it is on perfectly straight (be patient). And then start painting. I have just finished painting my first wall this way and I have been really pleased with the results. Very clean lines. I left the tape on over three days and no problems with it pulling paint off or bleeding. When removing it pull it away from the freshly painted area if that makes sense? This is what I achieved (I’m quite proud lol) even if it might not be to everyone’s taste!

Well done, Ostrom. That looks fantastic.
Op. You might have to practice 🙂

That will be fine, OP. A good trick is to seal the edge of the frog tape with a very light coat of your paler colour before you paint over with the dark so that if it does bleed (which even frog tape does sometimes) it still guarantees a sharp line.

Thank you all. So do I pull the tape off while the paint is wet?

No - touch dry but not fully cured. The yellow frog tape is lower tack so it’s unlikely to pull any paint off.

Thank you

I love frog tape but the green one not the yellow one - I just found it so low tack as to not actually stick!
Good tip about going over the edge with the lighter colour first to seal. Will try that next time.

Yes, I used the green one not the yellow. It did pull off some of the eggshell on the coving but nothing that a touch up couldn't fix. I will remember the tip about going over the edge with the lighter colour to seel first.
