Help with sofa confirguaration in a square living room with a bay window

Does anyone have a square living room with a shallow bay window? What is your sofa confirguration?

I currently have a 3 and 2 seater which are too big for the room - bought for our last house - and I am about to buy new sofa/s. I can't decide between a smaller 2 and 3 seater, or a long 4 seater and an armchair.

It's a difficult room because the fireplace is opposite the bay window, and the door to the hallway is close to the fireplace wall, so there's not an obvious place to put the TV and have two separate sofas of people be able to see it.

I can attempt a diagram if needed!

I think, from your description, that mine is similar to yours. My bay is also opposite the fireplace which is quite unusual as they're usually at right angles. We also have the added complication of two doors in the room.

I have my sofas at right angles to each other - the three seater is parallel to the bay, and the 2 seater along the wall at right angles to it. I've attached a very amateur diagram!

(There is other furniture in the room but I haven't included it. There's enough room to walk round from the door at the top to the door at the bottom)

Also ours is more rectangular - 5m long by 4m wide

Yes snowballer, ours is like that without the other door by the bay. Ours is more like 4m x 4m. We currently have our sofas where yours are but one is pushed right up to the bay, it doesn't fit in it, so against the walls leaving a gap behind. Our TV is opposite the sofa that is not in the bay, next to the door.

I don't like facing the door when watching TV. It doesn't feel cosy.

Our bay is at right angles to the tv/fireplace wall. We’ve gone for the option of a sofa opposite that wall and an armchair in the bay itself. I definitely wouldn’t rule out a longer sofa with an armchair in the bay as it can open up the room a bit more in a way that two L-shaped sofas don’t. Although to make the room feel bigger, I would consider just one big sofa, perhaps even a corner sofa.

Yes, we have 2 x 3 seaters and 1 x 2 seater

I will pay a diagram of the configurations I am deliberating over. I don't think I could have a 4 seater and nothing else as we are a family of 4 and often have family to stay - pre-covid.
