Bed colour against yellow walls

We have just decorated a room which will be our bedroom. It's not a small room but has a sloped ceiling one side so it does feel smaller and limits furniture options.

We have painted it brightly and it looks lovely in yellow - banana split. We have opted for a light cream carpet.

We definitely want a wooden bed, however can't decide between a dark wood like walnut or a painted white pine.

These are the two we like so far, we don't mind either style.

Opinions welcome please :)

I much prefer the top one. The bottom one is slightly odd looking sorry...maybe that's just me though. I think it's clunky looking and the timber top edge looks jarring beside the white painted part.

@FortunesFave
Thanks these are only examples though, do you think dark wood against yellow will look better than white though altogether?

Our living room is painted in Banana Split. We have a darker wood mantelpiece and white blinds and both go well with the colour. I would say for bedroom furniture white wood looks a little dated now, I'd be inclined to go for the darker bed but with white bedding and blinds or curtains.

@EventuallyDeleted yes that is plan for linens and curtains

I think i prefer the dark, just adds another dimension I think as well so it's not all bright

Yes we see definitely leaning to dark wood, thanks

Dark wood and don’t go for the white style as those gaps between the wood become giant dust collectors.

LemonViolet · 19/02/2021 13:37

Also vote for darker wood. How about mango wood?

HeronLanyon · 19/02/2021 13:39

Deffo the darker. I’d personally go for walnut - a shade or two darker than the top photo but quite Matt.
Banana split haven’t thought about one of those for decades !

We have a mahogany coloured sleigh bed in a yellow bedroom.

Dark wood does show every speck of dust though.

My spare room is a pale yellow and the bed frame is white. It looks lovely and fresh like springtime.

Dark wood.
I may not be very stylish but I couldn't have a cream carpet with a white bed.

We think we are going with the top bed, it is a walnut so hoping we will be able to get some bedside units to go easily.

If not this bed then definitely dark wood and not white. I tried to run a black metal frame past and pitch an industrial type look as I found some lovely units which would have gone really well and help keep the budget down but it was a firm no!

I'm regretting not pale yellow to be more in keeping with the rest of upstairs but I am slowly getting used to the brightness 😆
