Hi

I like this paint for my west facing bedroom but not sure I want to pay this much money for paint. Has anyone found a good alternative? Or is it worth the extra money? Not only is the room west facing but it also has a high building opposite which blocks the sun in the evening quite a bit too. Has anyone got this in a west facing room? thanks

I used to have it in my last place, but in an east facing room - so morning sun but afternoon shade. I loved it, it lasted 10years and still looked great and everyone who ever visited commented on how nice it was. I will probably use it again whenever I need to redecorate here. Imo it is worth the money!

In other rooms I tried to colour match F&B in cheaper brands and it wasn't as nice at all.

Thanks @BewareTheBeardedDragon that’s reassuring!

🤓 It’s a beaut!

But definitely needs careful testing in your room.
(Board x 2 coats) So you cam view in both light and shadow.

Near neutrals from this region can be prone to shifting purple/plum in lighting which spikes more heavily in blue/violet wavelengths.

If a sample does shift for you, moving further clockwise out of this zone to find a somewhat similar colour.

We had Elephant's Breath colour matched by Johnstone's for our bedroom in our old house which was west facing, we got a lot of evening sun. I loved it.

@colette100 I was going to do one feature wall with elephants breath (behind the bed) and then the rest of the walls white as it’s a small master and dark as I mentioned before. Are there any whites you could recommend or a different colour? Thank you 🙏

Hi - I know you say the room is dark, but personally I would go with that and paint all the walls in Elephant’s breath and make it a cocoon-like den. Use lighting & reflection for extra mood enhancers

You could pull in sheen and texture and other colours, via textiles and metals - maybe even the palest of blues & pewter?

If it really feels to dark for you, Skimming Stone is lighter but would offer a softer contrast

I think you might lose the luxury of it, next to a very contrasting white.

Thanks @colette100 that’s really useful 👍 annoyingly I can’t paint my oak bed frame 😞 it’s not too orange it’s more ash than that so hoping that will work with it

Here are a couple of alternatives to Elephant’s Breath.
Nothing Uber-close but may give you a somewhat similar feel,,

For Dulux - use the Master Palette Code rather than the name. The code is international whereas names often aren’t.

NCS = Natural Color System used by Johnstone’s
