Ikea bathroom vanities are well regarded, and great for the price.

icelollycraving · 04/02/2021 12:47

I have IKEA mirrored cabinets. 3 of them Smile
They look great still, had them for 7 years.

Thanks! Particularly looking for something in a wood - like an oak shade...

Also look at La Redoute - although you need to add the sinks and plumbing separately

Just finished a whole house reno including 2 bathrooms. Found the following had a good selection of vanities:

Tap warehouse
Drench
Victorian plumbing
Victoria plumb
Bathstore
UK Bathrooms

If I think of any else I'll let you know!

Worriedandonedge · 24/02/2021 09:19

@pooeylouie thank u! Have looked at lots of these but will check out the rest... in midst of full house Reno and extension too! Lots to order with shops shut and def can't wait until April when they "may" open, our builders are steam rolling ahead!

La Redoute - check where it is shipped from. If Europe, you may have customs fees added on top.

minipie · 24/02/2021 10:40

Good point, also there may be delays. I’ve just ordered a coffee table from them and it’s taking forever.

Be wary of some of the online vendors, as with everything you get what you pay for. We renovated our main bathroom 2 years ago and some things I bought from the likes of Drench have not worn well at all (WC that has a weedy flush and waterfall basin tap, I'm particularly looking at you).

Now in the middle of renovation of our en-suite and have taken plumbers advice on brands and used his discount to buy good quality fitted vanity and WC units, sink & WC, shower screen and taps etc from local plumbers merchants.

Whilst they are here I will be replacing the WC and taps in the main bathroom with better quality options. I have learned my lesson - buy cheap and buy twice!

Hi. Don't know if this helps, but if you are planning on putting the cabinet on a stud wall you could get builders to sink the cabinet into the wall so save space. Looks neater too. We didn't this in my daughters small en-suite. Sticks out about 1cm so looks like a mirror.

@ChequerBoard thanks for this! Which brands did your plumbers recommend - I've gone with geberit for hidden cistern for 2 loos (still need to look for other two which will be standard close coupled ones) and mostly crosswater for taps / shower items but a couple of unknown cheaper options in the mix too including Victoria plums mode range...

Thanks! I'm more looking for the sink vanity than mirror cabinets at the mo... so don't think would sink those in... have done showe/bath boxes for sure already in the studs Smile

I've fallen in love with Albion Bath company's Hamar vanity unit. But it's really pricey, out of my budget.

Hoping that something comes in under budget so I can stretch to it!

@beggingforsleep before I download the brochure and give them all my details - what are the price ranges - imagine out of my budget too!!!

They don't even send it to you digitally, they post them! Let me go dig mine out and take a pic

A related point:

If you are planning on (or may choose) a wall hung vanity off a stud wall then make sure the builders have put strengthening timbers across the studs where the vanity will go.

We wanted a wall hung sink but the builders hadn’t done this so we couldn’t have one (not without risk of the whole thing falling off if one of our kids hung on it or something).

Hope you have more money than me!

Those are mad prices! Making me feel better about my expensive mirrored cabinet though!

We have gone for Calypso fitted furniture, style name Brecon in Marine Blue
https://www.calypsobathrooms.co.uk/ranges/fitted-furniture/brecon

With this illuminated cabinet, list price is £839, we are paying £540 with plumbers discount.

beggingforsleep · 24/02/2021 21:57

@ChequerBoard I know! But now I've seen them it's all I want.

What you have is lovely though. Maybe I should see if I can get a plumbers discount somehow. A 60% one!

Am using a mix of B&Q and a builders merchant for fittings to renovate our main bathroom. Lousso stone have some lovely wall hung vanity units but a long lead time when I checked. Went with a Saneux vanity unit via the builders merchant, which is where we bought an LED cabinet, bath and taps as well.

I've fallen in love with some wooden vanity units on Etsy, really nice and chunky looking wood. There are also some lovely sinks on Etsy and I really like the concrete ones, but don't know if I'm brave enough or if the rest of the room could live up to that!
