What to put in this corner?

Just that really... didn't use my home office much until last year and now want to make it nicer! What would you put in this corner? Don't really need extra storage, we have a huge Kallax at the other end of the room. Normally just throw the beanbag down that end but it looks a bit messy/lost.
Any ideas welcomed!

Chaise ?

Flowerythoughts · 28/01/2021 14:34

If you don’t need storage what about some greenery?

Ooh I was thinking of a chaise. But I wondered if it would look a bit tucked away pointing at the desk. So I then considered a tub chair angled towards the middle of the room.

Plant is a good shout. Would it be ok in a north facing room with a small window?

A small ,low table or unit with a small plant and some little photos (with really nice frames)
on it.Oh and if there's room an electric wax burner lamp, they throw off some lovely patterns in corners of the room, and lovely smell also!

plant, print on walls or table as above.

DuckBatRabbit · 28/01/2021 14:41

Great idea @titchy although that space is in the background on my video calls! I might get a reputation!

You could pointedly turn around when proceedings get dull and pour yourself a nip of something!

I would be sozzled by 9.30 am!

I'm liking all the ideas, thanks. Little table with plant and picture frames, maybe a lamp.

There is a fairly large painting on the wall just out of shot, where the ceiling gets to full height.

Nice light display?

WellIWasInTheNeighbourhoo · 28/01/2021 14:52

Wall shelves for books etc? Get a local carpenter to make something to fit the space exactly.

Love the look of your office. It looks very cozy and calming.

I personally wouldn't put anything big in that corner. It looks spacious now and like you have plenty of room to move your chair around and a big piece of furniture would ruin this. I also think a plant would look nice. A lovely plant in a nice pot.

DuckBatRabbit · 28/01/2021 15:52

Aww @CherryBlossomTree7 that's lovely of you to say, has made my day Smile

I think my problem is I'm very indecisive and don't want to get something and it look a bit shit. I tried a couple of bits from other rooms to get some ideas and it all looked rubbish. I'd love to be one of those people who can just know what will work.

I think I'm leaning towards a bit plant at the moment. I did like the pot from the Etsy link.

Not really answering your question, but...if that’s a north facing window have you thought about moving your desk around so that it’s in front of the window?

If that’s not an option, I’d definitely look at getting a plant for that corner. There are lots of plants that are happy in a north facing room. Zz-plants, snake plants, parlour palms...the list is long! Just make sure it’s not too close to a radiator as most plants would find dry air more of a problem than shade.
