Cost of getting chairs re-upholstered

I'm thinking of buying some old fashioned wingback chairs and getting them re-upholstered with some groovy fabric - like Emma J Shipley. A pair, but not matchy matchy.

Has anyone done this and have an idea about the cost? I realise it probably depends on the state of the chair and whether its in good shape but I'd love an idea of cost. I could get a pair of chairs for £100 so I'm interested in the real full cost.

It totally depends on who you find to do the re-upholster. I found a local person to do a winged back chair and excluding fabric (I sourced myself) I think I paid £100. The same person also re-covered some ercol cushions for my ercol chair and only charged £30, the Emma J Shipley fabric I used was double the price!

Please keep in mind there is simple recovering and then there is reupholstering.

Reupholstering may be complete strip down to replacement of springs, webbing foam, fire proof lining etc.

Simple tr I’ve rung is far, far less money do fo look very carefully at these chairs.

Thank you. I'm very aware that it depends on the state of the chairs. Recovering is so different to re-upholstering. I guess I have to be careful because I really like wingbacks but by definition most are quite old.

Thanks for your input.

I paid 350 (excluding the fabric) for a large armchair to be reupholstered. Including new foam etc.

It isn’t cheap and you could buy a cheap chair new for about the same price as having something reupholstered, but I love having things reupholstered. You get something better quality than you could buy new for the same cost and it’s more environmentally friendly. Perhaps most importantly in my opinion, you can get something unique and exactly as you want it and there’s a real satisfaction in seeing an old chair completely transformed.
