Cold and boring Hallway

After taking down my Christmas Garland earlier this month I’ve realised how cold and boring my hallway is compared to the rest of the house.

The space is tiny, the staircase starts in the living room, and then goes up to a small landing upstairs. Id love it to be a bit more of a feature but I don’t want to do anything that makes it feel smaller
Any ideas what I can do?

Fairy lights?

Mirrors?

Does anyone have anything on the bends of their stairs? I was thinking maybe I’ll put some lanterns. I could fill one or two with some fairy lights @Ihatesandwiches too perhaps?
Wouldn’t fairy lights anywhere else look a bit tacky? Or am I not being creative enough?

@Elieza I hate mirrors everywhere as I always look like a slob and don’t like to be reminded but I think you’re right that I need one

Ooh! I like the idea of lanterns or those glass hanging basket things with lights in. Doesn't have to be fairy lights :-) Lots of different light strings available!
