Curtain sizing

I need to buy some ready made curtains. I know what length I need (137cm) but I'm confused about width and reading about it seems to be confusing me more!

If my curtain pole is about 220cm do I need to buy 228cm or 168cm?

Any advice would be massively appreciated

It depends on how full you like your curtains really. If you have eyelets on a pole I’d buy wider as I think they look better.

Ok thanks. Yes it will be eyelets.. so I'll probably go for the wider ones.
