Integrated or free standing oven

We're hoping to renovate our kitchen soon, once funds allow, however our freestanding cooker is about to die now. As such we're looking to replace it in the meantime as our meals are getting a tad disastrous.

My DH and I both have strong feelings about the different styles of cookers. I'm really keen to get a temporary free standing one now to fill a gap and to sell it on later, as I love the idea of getting an integrated one to fit the kitchen when we sort it. My DH hates integrated cookers and think we should get a range style or at least free standing one now.

What would you recommend? TIA x

I'd get a second hand cheap freestanding one to tide you over and then get an integrated one when you are ready.

Thank you! For when we do renovate, which would people prefer/ recommended and why?

We have a free standing oven in our home and an integrated in our holiday cottage. I prefer the integrated as it looks smarter and the induction hob is easier to clean. I think it looks more modern.

But it doesn't make that much difference.

If your DH hates integrated cookers, how is buying a temporary freestanding one, then replacing it with an integrated one, anything like a compromise? Isn't that just delaying the moment when you override his preferences and do what you want?

I think you need to talk this through together, taking into account the pros and cons. Who is paying for it? Who does most of the cooking?

Wow, @flamedtoacrisp. Thanks for your, um... input.

I hate the idea of a free standing in the new kitchen. I worry about dirt and grease getting down the side and love the idea of not having to crouch down to put things in and take them out the oven. I tried not to put too much information above as I wanted unbiased opinions so we could talk it through and decide together. That being whether we bought a free standing to last now or not.

But thank you so much for your opinion on my attitude and marriage, it was such an insightful bonus when I was just asking how people found their ovens...! Grin
