Do you keep the room ‘dressed’ permanently, or just make up the bed when someone comes to stay?

I’d like to have it ready but it currently alternates between a dumping room and bed for DH to escape to at 3am when the toddler ends up in our bed!

Whirlwind14 · 14/01/2021 10:49

It’s actually a lovely room- gorgeous furniture, blinds and bedding. What a waste!!

BuffaloCauliflower · 14/01/2021 10:51

We’ve always kept it dressed but washed the bedding right before use as the cats sleep in there.

No it's a dumping ground for all the stuff we have no space for🤣 also both my grown children moved in for a few months during covid for various reasons and seem to have moved out and left all they stuff want to keep but don't want messing up thier new homes... thankfully no one can stay atm

BuffaloCauliflower · 14/01/2021 10:52

It’s also currently DHs bed while I sleep in our bed with the baby

Dressed permanently. Purely because we've had a few situations over the years when we've had to put someone up at very short notice, and I like knowing the room is already clean and tidy.

Always ready. Might occasionally have something placed on it, but nothing that can't be removed quickly.

Proudboomer · 14/01/2021 13:36

Mine is a dumping room and still has boxes left over from Christmas taking up the space. When the weather improves and shops are open again I will decorate it and maybe replace some of the miss matched furniture. No hurry to do so as no one is allowed to visit at the moment anyway.

Thanks dor the replies.

I actually have 3 rooms as adult children have moved out last summer.

I have decorated two of them but the third has ‘stuff’ in it which I’m working my way through but that’s difficult as charity shops are closed for donations.

I think I will keep the two finished ones ready and so they look neat and tidy and then the third might have to be a bit of a store room / bedroom

I feel your pain. It might be worth keeping an eye out locally for people doing collections for named charities, to make up for the current loss of donations. Our local horse sanctuary arranged collected in the run up to christmas, brilliant.

Ready for the kids - they are adults and don't give notice. We currently have one here for lockdown but another is really struggling so half expect her to come down too.
