Cordless floor lamp?

ReadySteadyBed · 27/12/2020 20:39

We need a floor lamp in a corner where we have no power outlet and no option of putting one in now (post renovation and didn’t occur to us doh!)

Has anyone got a cordless floor lamp they can recommend?

Watching with interest as I've got the same issue

Mosaic123 · 29/12/2020 08:25

Is there such a thing?

picklemewalnuts · 29/12/2020 08:46

What about using the string lights that run off a usb? I have a power bank (lasts several days) running some bright copper fairy lights. It's very effective. We leave it on overnight as it gives good, safe level of ambient light for the stairs.

I've never heard of such a thing. Are they battery powered? Don't you just use an extension cable?

Stinkyjellycat · 29/12/2020 08:54

I’m nit sure these exist OP as I’ve looked before (but I’m happy to be proved wrong as I’d like one!). It’s hard to get a decent cordless table lamp too and it seems like such an obvious gap in the market to me 🤷🏻‍♀️

Watching, as I also need one....

Yes they would be battery operated and they do exist just hard to find!

Extension cable is messy (and dangerous as a tripping hazard) hence my post 😆

I don't know about standard lamps, but you can get a range of desk lamps and camping lamps. The problem though, is for a good bright light, you'll get through a ton of batteries. I suppose if you have a standard lamp you could fix battery operated cob lights or similar to it?

pursuedbyablackdog · 29/12/2020 09:07

Desk lamps tend to have built in rechargeable battery, but the one I use needs recharging after 4-5 hours of use.

You might need to consider running cable under floor / carpet to the socket I'm afraid as I think anything which gives enough light will burn through batteries in a very unsustainable way

Search "USB rechargeable lamps", there are quite a few around, the nicer the are the more they cost! I think you might have to settle for either a table lamp as not lots of floors lamps. couple of examples of sites:
