Which lamps do you prefer? My husband and I cannot agree

Op, here’s a rather crappy mock up of how it would look with bigger shades.

The black shades are too small for the bases.

I prefer the lighter pair. I think I would still prefer the lighter look even if the dark shades were changed out for bigger ones. Looks a bit too budget hotel for me.

However I only like the shades on the lighter lamps - the bases don’t go with the rest of your furniture.

Argh I should have finished my thinking before I started commenting...

I think for me the sweet spot would be lamps of the style in your second option, with a bigger, lighter shade.

And here is them with lighter shades. I prefer the darker as matches rhe pic frame. Either way, the shades are far too small for the bases.

They mustn’t be too light! Just not too dark.

I would go for a colour that coordinates with the picture and is darker than the wall.

Alternatively go for red or burnt orange shades like the colour in the picture...

I would actually probably go for a khaki or olive green. It will ground everything, adding another element to balance it out. But it’s hard to say exactly what shade without being in the room to see the colours properly.

I prefer more solid ones. Like this style.
