Emma Bridgewater mugs

I love the tankard style of these mugs but can't justify the price tag at the moment. Has anyone got any recommendations for any in a similar style but more affordable? A Google search hasn't come up with anything for me 😕

Thanks for the link! They are lovely but I don't know if its just the photograph but they don't seem to be as eye catching as the Bridgewater ones in terms of size and colours.

Keep an eye on the EB website for seconds and clearance.

windmill26 · 09/12/2020 13:11

They have an outlet section on the website (mugs down to £14 ish).

Understandingnotignorance · 09/12/2020 22:15

Thank you for letting me know.

They’ll be cheap as chips after Christmas in the sale, they go down to about £6 a mug and then you can buy 6 for 5 as well. They also have a big summer sale and there’s always seconds and discontinued. Also check out eBay and selling groups on Facebook.

Understandingnotignorance · 09/12/2020 22:58

Oh really@MsAdoraBelleDearheartVonLipwig I didn't know that! Thanks I will keep a look out. Is that just for the seconds or do they hold sales on main site too? Has anyone bought a second, are the faults really obvious/off putting?

HardAsSnails · 09/12/2020 23:01

I've had seconds and couldn't see any faults. It's a really good way to buy nice china.

chocolatespiders · 09/12/2020 23:03

I bought some seconds and they arrive with a pen mark on the fault but really hard to tell what it is to be honest. You just rub the pen off.

Cecillie · 09/12/2020 23:05

Very occasionally they have similar style in the pound shop. I’m a bit odd and only really like that shape of mug so keep my eye out !

NiamCinnOir · 09/12/2020 23:07

I love EB mugs but mine are all seconds and I have no clue what the ‘fault’ is. They look pretty perfect to me!

Littlemissnutcracker · 09/12/2020 23:09

I love them but I got similar style in Dunnes - Ireland

However tesco did a mock version of them a while back. So I have a few. The pound shop type was very lightweight.

MrsDoctorDear · 09/12/2020 23:10

I have a lot of them and only buy the seconds now, I don't pay full price. I've had no problems with them.

If there was one I really wanted in the full price range then I'd put it in my basket and wait, they'll generally send you an email with 10 or 15% off to hurry you up.

The January sale is really good. Then the next big one is May.

Understandingnotignorance · 10/12/2020 00:38

Oh I'm so excited to hear this as I've coveted them for a while but couldn't justify the cost! Thanks so much for your replies.
Is the sale normally boxing day or January time?

chocolatespiders · 10/12/2020 08:23

I think it was May this year I bought my seconds and I love them all.
I wouldn't pay 20.00 for a mug and the seconds ranged from 5.00 - 15.00.
Also if the one you like is sold out keep checking back as that happened to me and then the second mug I wanted was back in stock.
Remember the pen they mark it with rubs off my DD thought the pen mark was the reason it was seconds and would stay on there.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 10/12/2020 08:25

They have a factory shop to. When we're all allowed out again it's a nice place to go, great cafe, factory tour and you can paint your own China.

MrsDoctorDear · 10/12/2020 11:12

It was around 10th January last time.

@JiltedJohnsJulie I'm dying to go! Would have been by now if it wasn't for Covid.

diplodocusinermine · 10/12/2020 11:19

JiltedJohnsJulie, I love a trip to their factory shop and oatcakes for a late breakfast in the cafe! We live miles away but any time we're heading down the m6 I make DH stop there...... The shop usually have seconds and line ends from about £5.

Angel2702 · 10/12/2020 11:25

Also TKmaxx often have them, it’s where I got my autumn one.

CoolShoeshine · 10/12/2020 16:03

I see them for sale quite a lot on Facebook marketplace, second hand.

No, the Christmas sale usually starts around the 21st December. The new stuff comes out mid January. I’ve been online at 9am when the sale went live and ordered half price dinner sets in the special sales patterns and had them arrive the next day. You have to be on there the minute it goes live though or you’ll be getting your stuff after Christmas. I don’t mind though, I collect it so I bring my Christmas stuff out year after year. Grin

Understandingnotignorance · 10/12/2020 23:11

Thanks everyone for all the responses. I've signed up to the mailing list and will be checking for the sales from next week onwards with my fingers crossed.

If you ever go to Bicester they have an outlet there. I think prices similar to the outlet in the website? Or maybe a bit cheaper?

CatsForLife · 12/12/2020 22:34

TK Maxx often have them in
