I need to decorate our small front room. It only gets sun at end of the day and is a bit cool.

Can’t afford to change sofa which is teal. Floor is tbd. Possibly wood.

Currently is off white but was thinking pale grey ( predictably) but open to
Ideas!

If the room gets sun at the end of the day does that mean it's west facing?

Crazzzycat · 08/12/2020 21:51

Pale grey might end up looking really cold if the room is north facing. If you want it to look a little warmer, you could try either a yellow/ cream, or a blush pink.

Frenchdressing · 09/12/2020 05:21

Thankyou. Yes kind of West facing.

I did think of dusky pale pink but might look weird with my teal sofa. I’m rubbish at this stuff! Might just paint it white!

Pale pink! That and teal are very fashionable at the moment and it will warm the room x

You could give the Dulux visualiser app a go - pick a colour and use your camera to point it at a wall and it will give you an idea of what might work? But agree with others - lots of pink and teal living rooms around on Pinterest etc and they look nice to me!

Thanks!

Not heard of that app. Will look for it.

Blush pink would look good, you could try one with a hint of grey in it like F&B Peignoir if you're worried about it being too "sweet" looking. As PPs have said, it's a great combination with teal - this kind of thing, though the wall colour is a bit on the sugary side for me

If you’re going down the pink-route, I’d suggest one with a healthy dose of yellow in it. Lovely as the Peignoir suggested above is, it could end up looking quite drab and cold in your room because of the light. Something like F&B Pink Ground, or Setting Plaster will look much warmer and isn’t too sugary either.

Another vote for pale pink.

My DD has dulux blush pink in her north facing room and it's really lovely - warms it up and not sickly sweet at all. Would be lovely with teal

ivykaty44 · 10/12/2020 21:10

id go dark grey to add warmth

stclair · 10/12/2020 21:19

Settling plaster is a lovely colour. Dd has it in her room, not at all overly pink iyswim!

Frenchdressing · 11/12/2020 04:37

Yes I’ve ordered lots of pink samples to try. Thankyou

I've done my darkish front room in a farrow and ball elephant's breath colour which I had mixed in a MacPherson paint. Can't afford the real thing 😃
In certain light it has a lilac/pink blush to it. I'm a table lamp person and I'm very pleased with it so far thankyou daughter for choosing it so it should be lovely in the bit of sunset natural light in the summer 🙏🤞

If you choose the flooring first, you have a better chance of making everything cohesive. It’s much easier to find paint colours to coordinate with flooring rather than the other way around.
