Replacing Worktop with Quartz/Marble etc

We have a really nice Vanity unit in our Bathroom with a really horrible worktop.
I've been quoted £2k to replace it (it's 1300mm long).

I could buy a whole new Vanity unit (with a marble top) for that.

Does anyone know a more reasonable supplier or am i kidding myself and this is the going rate?

A lot of the cost is labour, not materials. And sometimes it’s not worth the suppliers time/hassle for smaller jobs, so they quote high as they don’t want the work.

I'd choose a length of worktop and look for a local handyman to fit it. Otherwise think about painting it with something like Frenchic al fresco.

I've not used them myself, but heard good things about https://www.granitetransformations.co.uk
