What colour walls for living room?

I really want to get more colour in this room. It's currently Timeless and looking grubby.
North facing with lovely mature trees over the road so not much light. I want to keep the curtains and cushions, they're Sanderson fabric (I think) and were quite expensive and I still like them
Happy to replace the rug.
We usually use it in the evening, but dark colours would look odd with the curtains.
I think grey would look dreary, and green and blue are tricky. Help!

Have a look at little greene bone china blue. We have that in our north facing front room and it doesn't make it dark and dreary (quite the opposite, in fact - it's cosy but reflects daylight when we have some) and goes with loads. If you want to stick with Dulux, Willow Tree is a really sympathetic green.

I like your curtains, too :) And that little chair is so cute.

A creamy yellow, maybe? I don’t like bold colours on walls, so my preference would be for a yellowy shade of white below the dado rail, bright white above.

Yellow would tie in well with your curtains, vision, rug, the seat cushion, and brighten up a north facing room.

I’ve lost track of the number of times I’ve recommended this colour, but F&B Pink Ground works very well in north facing rooms and looks like it would go with everything you have in the room at the moment. It has a nice, warm and relaxed feel about it 🥰

The room looks ok, but the curtains could do with being slightly longer and I'd move the sofas from being against the wall.

I like the framed travel posters but not sure why the different places.

I would match a paint colour to the blue flowers in the curtains and paint to picture rail height leaving the wall above and ceiling white.

I like the framed travel posters but not sure why the different places.

Op wasn't asking for opinion on those, the question was about wall colour...anyway, I'd suggest skimming stone by f and b, it's got more warmth and depth than the current colour or maybe setting plaster?

@Bluesheep8, who asked you?

For paint colour suggestions? The op.

Light, soft and pastel colors always look beautiful. Pink or blue can be preferred.

SimplyRadishing · 08/12/2020 00:39

A good strong cornflour blue as in the curtains or a jaunty mid green as per cushion.

I'd paint as far as picture rails only
That room can take some colour

If you do testers do it on wallpaper cut off not a4 printing paper

SimplyRadishing · 08/12/2020 00:41

I could take it leave the cushions but the curtains are great so would work around a colour way with them

DramaAlpaca · 08/12/2020 01:42

You've probably decided by now, but a very light duck egg colour would look amazing in there.

ThatDirection · 08/12/2020 19:52

Maybe a more luxuriouscdeep pile rug. Or north face living room is painted in pale powder, a light bluey-green. It would look fine with your curtains and sofas.

Why not look at Pinterest and csee what stands out to you. Best to go with something you personally like.

postitnot · 08/12/2020 22:01

Goodness, still got bits of paper with various paints all over the walls!
Pale green makes the curtains look a sickly yellow
Inchyra blue (copy) is lovely but I think I'd just do one or two walls, would be too much everywhere.
Might see if i have some left over 'sea urchin' from my daughter's room 3 years ago knocking about somewhere... I'm a real hoarder!
Or jade white... mighg be too wishy washy

I like the chair too. The cushion is your current highlight colour. I would go for something like that on the walls. I don't think pink would go with your curtains.

Lavanderrose · 04/01/2021 19:10

I’d go for something like F&B hardwick white, it’s technically a hue of grey but it’s tone is warmer and it would suit with your grey sofas.
